Why Volunteer?
Living & Working Abroad
Volunteering overseas is a life-changing experience, where one has the opportunity to learn about a new culture, develop new friendships, and take on new challenges.
ESW SEED volunteers spend 10-14 weeks in a developing country – living and working with local people and organizations. Through this program, volunteers get to move beyond being a 1-3 week visitor to becoming a part of their local communities.
Whether you are testing the waters of an international career, interested in building your language skills, or looking for a way to give back to the world – volunteering through ESW is sure to be a rewarding experience.
Engineering Field Experience
The ESW SEED Program gives students and professionals the opportunity to gain international engineering experience. Those who have looked for international jobs may know that the field of international sustainable development is a difficult one to break into. Most international development organizations look for applicants who have already had 3-5 year of international field experience and language skills, in addition to the technical knowledge required for the job.
ESW believes that engineering and technical knowledge are a critical component of addressing many sustainability challenges. And that is why we offer the SEED Program as to foster a network of technically-skilled, globally-aware professionals who can meet the needs of the sustainable development community.
