After a few months of getting things in order, we're really quite excited to announce that our next organization-wide conference, in the spring of 2014, will be on April 10th-13th, and will be hosted by Northwestern University! Mark your calendars now - we'll have more information going forward, but I guarentee you'll want to attend.
Northwestern is located in the Midwest, right outside Chicago, making it easily accessible to many chapters and by many forms of transportation. ESW-NU has also been one of our strongest chapters since the early days of ESW, and we're delighted to work with them to create a larger and more diverse conference than ever before, as well as show off some of the chapter's successes! In particular, we're going to be building ESW-NU's annual NUSOS event into our larger ESW-National conference, and designing content to engage professionals as well as our student members.
This ESW-National conference will be the first to be in the spring rather than the fall. There are a variety of reasons for this, many of them logistical in nature - there's more time to request travel funds, chapters have had the school year to work on projects rather than showcasing the previous years, and the calendars seemed to line up a little nicer. In addition, with initiatives such as WPSE, a spring conference offers a chance to present work done in fall courses and choose new topics for the next fall.
If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, we'd love to hear them - send them to Justin Hess at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing many new faces!
