Pedal power is the transfer of energy from a human source through the use of a foot pedal and crank system. ESW-UB has created a system that drives a belt to turn a motor and generate electricity to a set of light bulbs. We use the bike at outreach events to show demonstrate to people how much energy electronics require.

We are currently looking to improve our system to be used with a smaller bike for children and to set up a data acquisition system along with it. The data acquisition system will be able to provide real time data about how much energy the rider puts out. They then can use this information to compare to how much energy common household items use.
